Enhanced Abrasion Resistance of Spark Plasma Sintered and HVOF Sprayed Hadfield High Manganese Steel by Turning and Diamond Smoothing

چکیده

Austenitic high-manganese steels (HMnS) offer very high wear resistance under dynamic loading due to their work hardening capacity. However, static abrasive is limited. Various approaches increasing abrasion are known from traditionally manufactured metallurgical components. These confirm the potential for surface protection applications. In this work, powder of Hadfield HMnS X120Mn12 prepared and processed by high-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spraying spark-plasma sintering (SPS). A good correlation was observed between results HVOF SPS specimen. Different conditions coatings sintered specimens were machining. Compared polished state, turning diamond smoothing can increase hardness 220 HV over 700 significantly. Regardless finish condition, similar be demonstrated strong sliding reciprocating loading. contrast, machining process clearly influences in scratch test with best smoothed condition. Especially against background current trends toward alternative coating systems, presented a promising approach development field technology.

Grain growth kinetic of spark plasma sintered magnesia

In this research, the densification of magnesia nanopowder with a mean particle size of about 100 nm was investigated by spark plasma sintering undera pressures of 80 MPa and at temperature range from 1000 °C to 1400 °C and a heating rate of 50 °C/min for 20 minutes. The density of the samples slowly increased with increasing sintering temperatures to 1200 °C. Afterwards, with more increasing o...

Microstructure and Properties of Spark Plasma Sintered MoAlB Ceramics

Advisor: Bai Cui Molybdenum aluminum boride (MoAlB) is a ternary transition metal boride which has promising aeronautic and nuclear applications. It inheres excellent properties of the binary transitional metal borides (e.g., MoB, ZrB2) such as high melting temperature, high hardness, and thermal conductivity. Besides, MoAlB is superior to MoB because: (1) the Al element provides an oxidation r...

Fabrication of Nanostructured Cu matrix Nanocomposites by High Energy Mechanical Milling and Spark Plasma Sintering

Spark plasma sintering (SPS) is a sintering process that is capable of sintering hard worked powders in short times. This technique was used to fabricate bulk Cu and Cu-SiC nanocomposites. Pure Cu and mixed powders of Cu including 4 vol% of SiC nanoparticles were mechanically alloyed for 25 h and sintered at 750˚C under vacuum condition by SPS method. Microstructures of the materials were chara...

Spark Plasma Sintered Hydroxyapatite – Zirconia Composites: Structural and Mechanical Properties

Hydroxyapatite (Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) (HAp) is a very attractive material for human tissue implantation, beacuse it makes up ~69% of the weight of bone [1]. Unfortunately HAp posses low mechanical properties (strength, fracture toughness), which is a barrier to its applications in load-bearing situations [2]. The mechanical properties of HAp composites, is based on the synthesis of composites and th...
